NORWEGIAN FILM INSTITUTE
The Norwegian Film Institute is the national organization
dedicated to the preservation, support and distribution of Norwegian
films. Our main concern is to promote greater understanding, appreciation
and access to film culture.
The Institute'sprimary objectives
are:
- to preserve and restore films
- to distribute and screen films
- to market and inform about films in
Norway
- to promote Norwegian films abroad
The Norwegian Film Institute
is under the authority of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, and
the goals in the area of film which have been adopted by the Parliament,
govern the Institute's activities.
The Department of International
Relations is responsible for the presentation and promotion of Norwegian
films abroad, and participates at several international Festivals and
markets. The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is an important partner
of the Institute in connection with film weeks and other Norwegian cultural
events abroad.
