ICLANDIC FILM CENTRE
Icelandic
Film Centre is an autonomous governmental body and its mission
is to support Icelandic film production, promote Icelandic films worldwide,
and enhance the general development of film culture in Iceland.
Iceland Film Centre administers the Icelandic Film
Fund, which allocates funds according to new regulations governing funding
for documentaries, short films, TV fiction and feature films.
Other activities include:
- Promotion of Icelandic films at international
film Festivals and markets.
- Facilitating contact between filmmakers,
film festivals, buyers and
the Icelandic film industry.
- Promotion of "Film in Iceland",
a government organization which offers 12% tax reimbursements
for film and TV production costs incurred in Iceland.
- Arranging Icelandic retrospectives throughout
the world, as well as participating in Nordic film programs with
different organizations.
- Acting as the information centre for Icelandic
films and for filmmaking in Iceland, hosting initiatives such
as seminars and workshops and supporting local film festivals.
- Support of Icelandic participation in international
bodies, such as Eurimages,
the Nordic Film and TV Fund, Media, Filmkontakt Nord, North by
North West, European Film Promotion and Scandinavian Films.
