EUROPEAN FILM PROMOTION
- Scandinavian Films, the umbrella organisation
of the 5 Nordic Film Institutions, was one of the 10 founding members
of EFP.
EFP:
an innovative network of European
promotion and export agencies
European Film Promotion (EFP) was established in
1997. With 24 national export and promotion organisations from 25 countries,
EFP is uniquely positioned to promote and market European cinema - and
the talent behind it - throughout the world.
EFPs mandate is three-fold:
- to increase the visibility of European films at key international
film Festivals and markets via the presentation of high-profile press,
industry and public events; - to design initiatives at selected Festivals
and markets which offer European filmmakers greater access to the international
marketplace; - and to promote and support Europes up-and-coming
filmmaking talent.
EFP has sought out partner Festivals and markets
which are highly regarded - both culturally and commercially - by the
international industry. In addition, the festivals offer a challenging
and diverse programme of European films for the public. At all of its
events, EFP also provides extensive services to European companies through
the sharing of resources under the EFP umbrella.
EFP partner-Festivals and markets include: Berlin
International Film Festival, Buenos Aires Festival of Independent Cinema,
Cannes International Film Festival, Karlovy Vary International Film
Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Pusan International Film
Festival, and American Film Market.
Since its inception, EFP has focused attention on
the international appeal and marketability of young European cinema.
EFP initiatives spotlighting Europes vibrant, up-and-coming talent-base
have garnered attention and acclaim throughout the industry. From "Shooting
stars" at the Berlin International Film Festival to "Producers
on the Move" at Cannes, EFP has drawn the attention of the international
press and public to new European films and the talent behind them.
EFP is generously supported by the EUs MEDIA
Programme, and by EFP member organisations. In addition, promotion and
PR activities are supported by the CNC, Centre National de la Cinématographie
and by private sponsors. The Hamburg office is financially supported
by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media and
the Cultural Department of the City of Hamburg.
